2018 has been quite the year, so I thought I’d round up my top 50 favourite images from various assignments throughout the year which I felt best represented the work I created this past year. Feel free to click through to check them out and read the little write up I wrote about each image.
Flamings Lips at The Burton Cummings Theatre
One of the most memorable shows I’ve had the pleasure to document this past year. I’ve been a fan of the Flaming Lips for years, so it was pretty surreal to see their insane live performance in person.
I was driving home from an early morning commercial shoot back in September and the light was to good not to shoot. 2018 was the year of trying to get back into shooting more for myself. This was one of the images I took this year that may not be the most technically correct image, it still sticks out to me as a different way to show off Winnipeg
Police Cruiser Collision
I was driving home down Main St and saw this scene in front of me. Traffic was pretty backed up, so I thought why not get out and capture it.
I’ve shot George on 2 other occasions at The Burton Cummings Theatre so I guess he may have recognized me when I shot his show back in May as he pretty much posed for me the entire show. This photo has always stuck out because it’s more of a portrait then just another live show photo
I though it was funny how Aqua brought out a bigger crowd then Metallica this year. 90’s Nostalgia is clearly in for 2018
In my opinion, the most photogenic bridge in Winnipeg
CP Rail Yards at Sunset
Tune Yards at The Garrick Centre
For this show, I challenged myself to only shoot with a fisheye for the entire set. It was challenging, but I came back with a few strong images, including this one.
I had the pleasure of becoming part of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce this past year and one of the perks is getting to listen and document some pretty fascinating people. Listening and photographing architect Jan Gehl in the Hotel Fort Garry’s beautiful grand ballroom as he talked about city planning and how architecture plays a roll in the betterment of a city was very inspiring.
Portrait of Amanda
Snow, Rainbow Hair and a great smile, what else do you really need?
Chris and Ashley Engagement
I don’t normally do too many engagement and wedding jobs, but this image we made has made me really want to shoot more of those in 2019
Ashley Wedding Portrait
2018 was the year of the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Jets Whiteout Street Parties. I feel this photo really captures the feel and energy of the parties
Jim Magill Medal of honour
One shoot really stuck out to me was photographing Jim Magill, a 95 year old veteran of World War 2, receive his medal of honour. It hit home to me because my Grandpa fought in the same war and had recieved the Order of Canada for his services.
Papa Roach Crowd
One of the wilder shows I photographed this year. Papa Roach fans are crazy

Never Too Old
My buddy Graham had me out a few times this past summer to photograph the farm he and his parents own and operate. This photo is of Graham’s grandma, who despite being in her 80’s, has never missed out on picking peas.

Royal Blood at Bell MTS Place
Royal Blood (one of my personal favourites) opening up for Queens of the Stone Age
QOTSA at Bell MTS Place
Front man Josh Homme and bassist Michael Shuman perform at the Winnipeg stop of their Villains World Tour back in May. The show was almost canceled because of a Winnipeg Jets game, but furious fans made the game be rescheduled for the next day so fans could enjoy Queens.
One of my all time favourite Winnipeggers and skaters, Brendon Sanderson finger flips at the Scam Mini ramp
Keith Urban at Bell MTS Place
Keith Urban performing at Bell MTS Centre. This photo was used as my first cover photo on the front of the Winnipeg Free Press

Two Cellos at Bell MTS Place
